After a while of waiting, the music program “Kingdom” organized by Mnet was broadcast. This year’s competition’s official line-up has a total of 6 names, respectively iKON, BTOB, The Boyz, Stray Kids, ATEEZ and SF9. The opening episode’s duration is mainly about theatrical performances, whereby each group will take turns to perform the songs they have released.
Notably, when iKON’s documentary video was shown, many viewers saw with their eyes the former iKON B’s image B.I member was blurred by the crew on TV. Immediately, fans expressed frustration with this less subtle action of the editorial team. They believe that doing this can create a negative reaction from the public. Simultaneously, this shows a lack of respect for the male artist despite his valuable and kind contributions to the community throughout the years.
Facing this situation, the audience simultaneously asked “Kingdom” not to use the image of B.I in the following episodes. Besides, the crew also had to edit the content of episode 1. Immediately after that, Mnet’s representative gave an official statement on this issue. Specifically, this unit said it would actively consider the fans’ comments and improve in the next episodes. Before that, the 30th Seoul Music Awards also received mixed reactions because of the same thing.
B.I announced the contract’s termination with YG Entertainment and left iKON in June 2019 after being entangled in the noise of buying, selling, and using banned substances. During his absence, the male artist focused on volunteering for many different organizations and continuously donating enthusiastically to charitable activities on March 19, B.I made a comeback with the mini-album “Midnight Blue” in the “Love Streaming” campaign. Before that, he also silently contributed to the new album of the trio Epik High.
