On August 4, a new video was posted by Lee Jin Ho, a former entertainment journalist who is currently serving as a reporter on the content streaming platform YouTube.

The clip featured Jessica Jung’s novel excerpt, which allegedly targeted the Girls’ Generation. The novel titled “Bright” was released in May, the second installment of her first book, “Shine.”

In the released excerpt, Lee extracted from the book the process in which the main character Rachel Kim was ostracized from the nine-member group, “Girls Forever.”

The excerpts then narrated that Rachel had a conflict with some members while working in the fashion business. The content of the conflict was also very detailed.

When Rachel was late for practice and was pointed out by a member, they argued, saying:

 “All of us have been late or absent before.”

As the story progressed, all the members, except Rachel, protested to the agency, making comments such as:

  • “Rachel is blinded by the business.”
  • “I don’t want to go to the LA concert with Rachel.”

There’s also content unveiling that certain members continued to bother Rachel.

As “Bright” was described as an autobiographical novel, it can be considered that the book is close to Jessica’s experiences.

As such, netizens and K-pop enthusiasts compared the book to Jessica’s relationship with the Girls’ Generation prior to her departure. They were all doing well not until conflict started when Jessica opened her own fashion Business, BLANC & ECLARE. In fact, at the time of Jessica’s withdrawal, Girls’ Generation was set to hold a concert in LA in the U.S.

When she departed from the group, SM explained that Jessica left to focus on her business, but Jessica refuted this on social media and complained that although she didn’t want to leave the group;

“The eight members asked me to choose one thing whether I left Girls’ Generation or quit my business for no justifiable reason. I haven’t been in any contact with the members since my withdrawal.”

Reporter Lee Jin Ho then criticized Jessica by saying:

“Girls’ Generation members didn’t say anything about Jessica and protected her, while Jessica is targeting Girls’ Generation members until the end.”

He added:

“Jessica has not been able to let go of Girls’ Generation for a long time of nine years. This is the decisive reason why domestic fans who supported Jessica until the end turned their backs on her.”
